Diet Snacks
1. Fruit And Vegetables Always place a couple of your favourite fruits or vegetables in your bag before heading off to work. This will greatly control your appetite throughout the day and prevent you from lunging towards the vending machine for candy. However, avoid sprinkling sugar over the fruits as this will add empty calories and stimulate your appetite even further. If you have some time on your hands, you may wish to make a creative fruit salad with orange juice over the top to prevent the fruits from discolouring. If you do not like your vegetables raw, then opt for a low fat dip or sprinkle some seasonings over the top to spice up the flavor. 2. Nuts Nuts are a great source of energy and forms great brain related diet snacks to stabilize your mood and improve memory. They contain good fats and many other nutrients. Be cautious not to purchase the salty types as this will lead to high blood pressure. Before you go out, place a fistful of various types of nuts such as almonds, walnuts, cashews and hazelnuts into a zipper bag to dampen hunger pangs that may arise during the day.
3. Dairy Products Low fat cubed cheese tastes great with light rye or sunflower crackers. A standard sized tub of low fat, low calorie yoghurt is a great diet snack to relax and put yourself into gear when swamped by paperwork at your desk. Yoghurt is also loaded with calcium to make your bones and teeth stronger. Frozen yoghurt can act as a refreshing agent during hot summer days and it even tastes somewhat like ice-cream. Try adding grapes or peaches to the yoghurt to give it a greater taste.
4. Cereal Based Products Grilled fruit whole meal toast with sugar free honey or other light spreads is a great diet snack to satisfy your appetite without worrying about any unhealthy weight gain. You can also enjoy your muffins as long as they are low in sugar (honey will be a great replacement), high in fibre and composed of olive or canola oil.
5. Snack Bars There are various diet snack bars comprised of either cereal, oatmeal, granola or bran in the market that are low in fat, no added sugar or preservatives. Naturopathic or vitamin shops may also sell protein bars which can greatly create that sense of feeling full.
