Ab Exercises

Ab exercises are the first thing you should consider when trying to build and strengthen your abdominal muscles, but you need to know that it’s going to take a lot more than that to get some ripped abs. Before we get to give you a list of ab exercises, let’s begin here by considering some tips that you need to know if you want to maximize your results:

Cut through the fluff- summer 6pack

  • Doing ab exercises can help you build and strengthen your abdominal muscles but it won’t do you any good when it comes to losing body fat.
  • You need a proper fitness routine which includes proper exercising and dieting to go along with ab exercises to help you get rid of excess body fat and achieve great results.

  • You do not need to perform tons of different ab exercises or waste hours working out every session, instead try keeping it short and effective (learn more here).
  • To get the best benefit from your training, you need to consider a variety of ab exercises so you can target your abdominal muscles the optimal way.

  • Change your workout routine often to maximize your results, as your body will get used to the same routine if performed for a long time (for that matter you can change your exercises selection, order etc).

  • You may consider using machines when performing your ab exercises since it can help you add variety and resistance to your workout, and therefore maximize your results (learn more here).

  • When it comes to performing ab exercises, you need to focus more on quality than quantity, in other word cheating won’t help you get better results. In fact, you may end up with some neck and back pain.

Now we are going to give you a list of ab exercises that we recommend using in your workout routine:

  • Bicycle Crunch
  • Cable crunch
  • Reverse crunch
  • Swiss ball crunch
  • Knee raise on parallel bars
  • Hanging Leg raise
  • Twisting Crunches

Keep in mind that there are a lot of different ab exercises out there with different levels of difficulty and effectiveness, so make sure to choose the right ones for you depending on your goals and fitness level. Click here to find more ab exercises.

Beginners may want to stick with 1 to 2 ab exercises per session (2 to 3 sets per exercise). Advanced athletes and bodybuilders can obviously do more. Start by doing as many reps as you can afford to do in each set and aim for a higher number each session as you get better in shape, also don’t forget to change your routine often to get a full benefit from your workout. By the way do you know that ab exercises like crunches, sit-ups, and  even machines are the least effective method of getting flat six pack abs.
